Water moves quickly toward the lake, taking loose material with it, and shoreland rules limit what can be done close to the water's edge. Both are manageable and both need to be established before a project rather than during it.

The character of these streets is collectively held — the tree cover, the stone work, the way properties sit back from narrow roads. Work that reads as out of keeping is noticed immediately, and the safest instinct on a Deephaven property is to restore rather than to introduce. Where something new is genuinely wanted, matching the existing vocabulary matters more than the individual choice does.
